Fitting Instructions
Step 1
Jack up vehicle on the chassis so that the back wheel just lifts off the ground. The main spring pack will then be at its loosest. Do not jack up the vehicle on the differential.
Step 2
Slip Stabiliser Spring over the wheel, or slide it in from behind. Place the widest part of the Stabiliser Spring on the axle, between the U-Bolts. Place one rubber block on axel between U-Bolts (first remove backing paper from double sided tape).
N.B.Some vehicle axles are 5 to 10 cms off centre of the spring pack, in this case just centre SuperSprings on the spring pack so that there is an equal distance between the ends of the SuperSprings blade and main suspension shackles.
Step 3
The Stabiliser Spring will look like this:
Step 4
Ensure that any brake pipes and cables that could be squashed by the blade are out of the way. Use cable ties if necessary. Bolt on front shackle, do not forget both sleeves.
Step 5
Using a G-Clamp or a strong pair of hands, depending on the age of the vehicle, pull down the rear shackle and bolt it on.
Do not tighten top bolts!!!
Step 6
Let down the jack.
Step 7
Repeat the exercise on the other wheel.
Step 8
Initially the rear of the vehicle will be approx. 55mm higher than before. This will eventually settle to approx. 35mm after a while.
N.B.When installing on Mazdas, Fords, Hyundais, Mitsubishis, Nissan 1400’s, Toyota 4X4’s and 4X2, and some Landcruisers the rear wheels must be removed and the overload rubber that is placed between the U-Bolts must be cut off level with the top of the U-Bolts before installation can proceed. Hyundai’s, Toyota 4X4 etc. where the spring pack is above the axle the installation is the same as above. On some Nissans there is a bracket on the chassis towards the front of the suspension, this must be removed using a no. 14 spanner.
Tools required;
- 2 number 17 spanners and/or 1 no. 16 spanner
- Jack
- G clamp
- Hack saw (when fitting Mazdas, Fords, etc).
N.B.Please make sure that all clamps, rubbers and brackets that may impede the proper functioning and effectiveness of SuperSprings are removed.
